This educational film made in the 1940's measures how a society ranks on a spectrum stretching from democracy to despotism. Explains how societies and nations can be measured by the degree that power is concentrated and respect for the individual is restricted. Where does your community, state and nation stand on these scales?

This film is fascinating! Noticing how few people have seen it makes me want to spread the word - I can think of a number of folks who *should* see it.

@nemesisdesign YES, those who cannot remember history are condemned to repeat it.

Many people today work unpaid overtime while many are also unemployed. This is despotism in overdrive carried out in the name of shareholders. Yet, people don't seem to notice. Many forms of economic indignity exist today. The two obvious ones are unemployment and the inability to retire at retirement age. While not obvious, overwork is a form of indignity since it is a blatant sign of disrespect by the masters (major shareholders) to the working individual, the slave (with 0 or few shares)

Interesting how this video implies that the US is clearly on the despotism side than democracy, and yet they still shout about being democratic.
And dont get me started on the UK, I've been saying the UK is sounding to be more and more like Nazi Germany than ever with all the British this that and the other..

I couldn't believe this was made in the 40s. But is true. History repeats itself.
