Shaping Winnie to blow bubbles in water from the beginning. We accomplished it in a single [rather long] training session with a little review session the next day.

This trick was actually a bit of a challenge for us (probably due to some of my delayed clicks..oops!) but we got it!

I started out with the water already in the bowl. I clicked for a nose dip into the bowl, then a nose dip into the water. We were stuck in the "nose dip in the water" phase for quite a while. It took a lot of concentration on my part to capture any tiny bubbles she emitted. Eventually she started blowing bigger and longer bubbles. And voila, a bubble-blowing Corgi!

Thanks to EmilySnider, KatsDogs, et al (too many people whose videos I saw, LOL) for the inspiration!

  • This is too cute!

Do you have a treat in the bottom of the water bowl?

  • Yes. I put it there to encourage her to dunk her nose in the bowl, but this technique didn't really work with her so I just free-shaped her.

  • LOL! that is funny! Does she blow bubbles in her water bowl now?

  • Only when I'm hovering over her with a clicker and treats, lol!

  • Would you recommend starting with water in the bowl or water not in the bowl (like Dazzle?) I think you get more of the dog's snozzle in the water when you start without, but I think each dog does it to their own!! Love you guys, Ella and Dermott. xxx

  • cute!!!^^

  • OMG, that is so not right!!! I love it!!

  • AMAZING!

  • Way to go Winnie!

I love how each dog has their own little flair to add to the trick!

  • Oh my gosh that is so awesome!
