I hooked up a 12v/1.8 watt solar panel (~$20) to a 12v PC fan (~$4). This is a small piece of the solar air heater I'm building. I will post a video of the completed project as soon as its completed.

If anyone knows where to get cheaper 12v solar panels, please let me know.

  • so can i hook this up to a small battery then charge my laptop, phone, appliance? i know this is weak but like for emergencies? and if so what battery would you guys recommend? also, can i hook up more of these in parrelell so they can charge faster?

  • Nice, I'll have to try that with my little spare 5 watt solar panel. I'm sure you know by now, but you can get solar panels for relatively cheap on ebay, brand new. I paid $19 total for my 5 watt, $45 for my 20 watt and a lot of times you can get those and other panels for even cheaper. So how are you building your solar heater ? a solar panel that has aluminum cans to collect heat and small dc fans to blow the air around a room ? I may have to try the solar heater thing one day.

  • Nice!

I just posted a video of the same thing with some spare junk parts I found today!

    Neat Stuff :-)
