One thing they chose not to mention is that the Didache never refers to the wine and bread of the Eucharist as becoming the blood and body of Christ. Instead it says that you should give thanks concerning the cup for the holy vine of David, and concerning the bread for how the Church is being gathered from the ends of the earth into the Kingdom of God.

@magister343 There is no mention of using the Didache to reinforce Catholic belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist in this video. There is no nefarious effort on our part to leave out some part of the truth. Chapter 14 of the Didache does, however, reinforce what Catholics believe about the Eucharist and the mass being a participation in Jesus' once-for-all sacrifice.

However, one thing YOU choose not to mention is that the writings of St. Ignatius of Antioch (a Church father) clearly support the Real Presence and assert that the Holy Eucharist truly is what Catholics believe it to fully be. I encourage you to read his letters with that in mind. God bless.

It just gets earlier and earlier! It dates LATE first century to early second century.

To claim it equal to a gospel is nuts. There is no reason to assume that it was done by an orthodox Christian. It should only be used for backing up other writings. There is not enough information of its origins!

@magister343 You're kidding, right? The text doesn't explicitly mention that, but why would it need to? We have assertions of the Real Presence from St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John, and St. Paul already. What the Didache does is supplement that with it's reference to the Eucharist as a Sacrifice.

All of the church fathers spoke out against sexual immorality (porneuseiv), but few bothered to define it. The term always included prostitution, but could refer disapprovingly to almost any sexual activity. When i discussed the matter with Jonathan Hill (an agnostic theologian from Oxford University) he said that the only father he knew to have explicitly condemned homosexuality is Clement of Alexandria, whose Paedagogus also condemned laughing too much or having sex before dinner.
