Nick had another great tournament at the ISGA Orlando event, winning Gold after stepping up big-time in weight for both the Gi and No-Gi categories ages 13-15. Here he goes against the really big teenager he beat in a Sport MMA match a few weeks ago at ISGA Jacksonville. He proves the previous win was no fluke by getting another victory. It was a tough match, with Nick barely escaping a really nasty Americana that had his shoulder twisted around like a pretzel, but he managed to twist out of it and take back mount, locking it in with a tight body triangle. He was working on getting in the choke when time ran out, leaving Nick the winner 4-0 on points. Nick is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu student at Relson Gracie Jacksonville and a Judo student at Judo Ryu Jax.
Remarkable for such a small kid to beat an opponent (who was clearly no mug)that size. But 4-0 seems a bit harsh. The big guy should surely have been awarded some points

The big guy was really tough, and it was a VERY close fight, but he was never in any point scoring position (top mount, side control, back mount, etc.). He did get a couple of advantages for near submissions, but they only count in case of a tie, not as actual points. The big guy was cetainly no slouch - he won another No-Gi match before he fought Nick in about 20 seconds with a nasty-looking modified guillotine - Nick knew he had to be careful in this one.
