Maine Ghost Hunters took a day trip to Leicester, Massachusetts to see what all the fuss is about surrounding this little cemetery thrill seekers call "Spidergates".

Disclaimer:
If you are planning a visit to the beautiful little Friends-Meetinghouse Cemetery in Leicester, MA please be aware of a few things. (1) It is not a creepy or scary location. It is very beautiful, immaculate in every sense, and obviously maintained with care and concern. (2) It is sometimes called "the 8th gate to hell" or "8 gates to hell". This cemetery has 1, and only 1, set of gates, not 8 as rumor and legend purports. (3) The limb on the "hanging tree" is so high you'd need a ladder to get to it. It's doubtful a grown adult, let alone a small child, could reach such heights. (4) The grounds are no longer being used for new burials because the area is so "haunted" - is NOT true at all. There have been burials here up until very recently [2008])

(5) The most important point: Most of the "paranormal activity" in the past has been reported on the road, which continues on past the cemetery, NOT in the cemetery itself.

When visiting this location please be on your best behavior and approach this location with the utmost respect. Families are still burying their loved ones here, and this place has not been forgotten or abandoned. It is still maintained and kept up on an obviously regular and routine basis. It is not, at all, a cursed place to be legend tripped or visited "at night" for a cheap thrill. All you're likely to get from a PM experience is a nice long walk on an old road out in the woods. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • No problem Ray, we had a good time there. It's so beautiful. I would suggest going when there are leaves on the trees, it's such a serene place when the foliage is full.

  • Spider Gates cemetery is well protected, the family whom owns the grounds are next door to it. It is prohibited to enter the cemetery during the night. However, you are allowed to visit during daytime hours.

It's nothing more then a cemetery and final resting place for those whom have passed. The grounds are well kept and protected. Sure it's haunted, some people that were buried there might not of had a pleasant life or death.

  • i live in worcester and grew up around the tanuck area right near the airport. i used to hear all kinds of crazy stories about satanic rituals and all kinds of other unbelievable and ludacris crap that SUPPOSEDLY went on here. the first and only time i ever went to see the hype i realized it was just that... hype. it is a beautiful place and a very peaceful location to visit. if you are cought on the grounds though you will most likely get a visit from the cops as it is prvt property

  • Immediately after, the air got really cold, clammy and smelled like death, and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. I got the heck out of there immediately.

  • i do believe it is truely haunted. my mom and i went to spidergates last august and we experienced stuff there. we entered the cemetary we saw an extermely old couple, they both looked like they were in their 90's. they said they were visting their parents graves. i didn't mean to be nosey but i asked them how old they were when their parents died and they said they were in their 20's. after like five minutes the couple walked into the woods. after like another 5 mins we followed them.

  • Thanks for making this video. I'm glad I didn't waste my time going there. I don't see why websites claim places are haunted, when they're not. Do you know of any good haunted places in the Worecester Mass area that isn't heavily patrolled? I want to go someone that is TRULY haunted.

  • Very nice vid! Thanks for the beautiful tour of Spidergates Cemetery. You're debunking/rationalizing was also very good and very imprortant. What so many may nor realize is that sometimes it's not the location that's haunted, but then again it ends up that way because of all the living human traffic that goes there either just to look or perhaps worse. Thank you for discouraging thrill seekers and brining to light the many reasons why not to go there on haunt jaunts. Again, great work!-Fran

  • Half is origional, one part was damaged and was repaired awhile ago.

  • Hey guys, I went to college in Leicester and always wanted to go investigate the Spider Gate cemetary, but could never get anyone to go with me. Thanks for giving me this virtual tour of the place. Maybe one day I'll get out there to investigate it myself. :)

    Seems like a fascinating place.

  • I went to college in Leicester, and had always wanted to explore the cemetary, but could never get anyone to go along with me. Thanks for this video; it's something I've always wanted to see for myself but never got a chance to.
