The 1971 World Series was way up there on the list of Top Moments of Memorial Stadium History and I attended Game 6 but the greatest day in Baltimore Sports History was October 9, 1966 when the Orioles completed their 4 game sweep of the Defending World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers who had Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, & Claude Osteen. The young Baby Birds starting pitchers bested them and only gave up 2 runs. The Dodgers said Orioles pitchers had the arms of "Venus DeMilo". I attended Game 4.

There were A LOT of great memories at Memorial Stadium in both baseball & football. One of the most memorable moments for me was Earl Weavers last game in 82. Not only was it Weavers last game but the Orioles played 4 games that weekend against the Brewes to decide the AL East champions. The O's had to win all 4 games. The O's won the first 3 but dropped the final one on that Sunday afternoon BUT it was still a fun and memorable moment in Baltimore sports history.

good times my friend!
and let me just ask...out of ALL the great moments at Memorial Stadium, couldn't you of at least come up with a great moment for the Orioles or at least the Colts? Hell, why not the first game for the Ravens in that stadium? At the time it was the largest crowd attendence in Baltimore sports history...geez! What about the Orioles shocking the defending World Champions in game 4 of the 66 World Series or the final out in the 70 world series?

I didn't choose a football game because my narratives are for the greatest baseball moments in each Major League ballpark. When I covered Memorial Stadium, I did a lot of research and had a hard time deciding which game to do. I agree that game 4 of the '66 World Series is definitely one of Memorial Stadium's best moments and I did consider covering it. I chose game 7 of the '71 World Series because it had more drama than both the Fall Classics of '66 and '69.
