The executive was put on the spot with accusations of nepotism and corruption in the appointment of top diplomats. Gichugu mp Martha Karua demanded that foreign affairs minister Moses Wetangula discloses the relationship of the diplomatic appointees, if any, with senior state officials and politicians. Karua claimed that at least there were two relatives of the prime minister who had been appointed to the ambassadorial positions. But while tabling the list of the 37 new ambassadors, Wetangula said the prime minister's sister, Akinyi Odinga, representing the country in Los Angeles was an immensely qualified woman, fit for the job. Chris Thairu reports.

I have a brother with masters in petroleum engineering,he cant secure a job since he's being told he's "over qualified".That only happens in kenya "toa kitu kubwa" or be a relative of the status quo to get a decent job.Only in Kenya!!

There is nothing odd or new about rewarding political cronies - all govts., US included does it all the time. Ambassadorship is a reward for political support. Karua is either ignorant about it or out to score cheap points.

lol, only in Kenya does a masters in chemistry qualifies you as a diplomat. Yet Ruto says that we have a shortage in the field of sciences. he should check at the list of our ambassadors to see where the qualified scientists are.
