  • I had the pleasure of seeing this layout in 1989.2 days before I saw the Batavia layout. Both were exceptional. Nice to see that it is still in existence.

  • @cprtrain Thanks, club still going strong. Open house held annually, usually the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.

  • Absolutely beautiful work. I love the farm, and also the grain/milling complex - looks like quite a lot of scratchbuilding went into that. It's refreshing to see a layout without walthers cornerstone buildings everywhere!

  • Thanks for the kind thoughts, Don B.

  • Cool layout, what railroad do you model.

  • The layout was started in 1983 as the River Terminal RR, modeling a Mississippi River Front Town of the 1050s. The layout modernized to DCC, but sticks to modeling the 50s. Various lines operate on the layout. Operating sessions are usually held twice a month with work sessions scheduled 3 or 4 evenings a month. On this layout an F7 is considered new. This layout is truly fabulous and must be seen to be appreciated. The 1983 founder is still the man at Midwest Trains.

  • @RustedBovine I tried to do an N scale British layout, I live in Chicago though! I eventually began to buy American rollingstock and then, started to build Chicago structures and it turned into Chicago with a few British tour trains sitting in the yards.

  • is it DCC?

  • love the Burlington units!

  • Well thanks for posting the vid Don, it's nice to meet you and see your club's work! I model the US midwest in HO, and I'm currently making a small switching layout featuring a grain elevator. I live in the UK, and have never been to the US, so my entire perspective is based off what I've seen on youtube, in movies and in photographs. Railways are so different in the UK that I've had to learn so much that I thought I already knew about!
