Diamond Aircraft has recently certified its DA42 NG with Austro diesel engines. Does the airplane meet the performance claims? Paul Bertorelli reports from London, Ontario.
I work at Diamond and all I can say is the 42NG is stunning, the conversions that are currently going on are fantastic all the 42's that are being converted have +- 900hrs are getting the 1000hr inspection done and are leaving the factory like brand new aircraft.
Thank God for Diamond.. at least one airplane manufacturer has the b@lls to do some real R&D and move not only airframes and avionics but also engines into the future! (although one could say since the GA industry is hopelessly behind in the tech department that they are only moving towards the present)
@Andybucker i dont haha, i still need £6000 to take my PPL, but i still want a DA42, even if its just sat in a hangar untill i can fly it :D ive flown in 2 diff DA42, one at Ayla aviation acadamy in Jordan, and a different one at Qatar Aeronautical College, amazing plane.
@jmister22 They have "turbo" diesel engines...
