Energy is very visibly not preserved in the configurations towards the end of the video; but it's still fun :-)

The green bar at the bottom indicates the relative strength of the force of gravity.

  • Thanks for the quick feedback guys. Based on these comments, I think I'll be putting it up for $10, or $9.99 if I want to be gimmicky ;-)

Hopefully people like slugfly who really want it will find that a great deal, and people like TheWinnieston might find the price low enough that they'll be willing to whip out their check cards. I might also include PDF write ups packaged with the program that explain the physics behind it all, for some extra value.

I'll post back soon when it's ready.

  • Hey everyone,

This is the original poster of this video. Lots of people have asked what software this is, and the answer is that this isn't any public sort of program (yet). I made this just for fun using C and OpenGL.

Since there seems to be demand I'll put a proper GUI on this and release it online for a modest price. What sort of price might you guys be willing to pay I wonder?

Email me at rutski89@gmail.com if you want to be put on an announcement list to be notified when it's ready.

  • Hi, rutski89 I would like to know about the algorithm you are using to move particles. Could you please send me the source code?... ok ok I will have enough with the Physics algorithms ...XD

  • Amazing!

  • 15 bucks!

  • nice dont give if for free :)

  • @TheWinnieston he just wants some back thats all

  • @rutski89 Price? What!??!?!?!?

I was thinking of posting it for download FREE!!!!

I mean, it's really good and all, but I just don't know why I would pay $50 for something that I could make using Python with a bit of research.

I don't mean to sound all snotty, but I thought that the program would be FREE.

    Think about it.

  • I think this would make a great ap. I've looked around for one with little luck. I'd say your asking price would depend on the GUI. If you've got a game's quality GUI that's easy to understand and navigate, with a lot of options, you might get away with 40-60 bucks... but I'm an astronomy geek and games geek so, that market aside, I don't know how many people would pay that much for a gravity simulation.

  • @rutski89 sent.

I've been making 1 myself with Java since that's the only language I know atm.
