Thumbs up if you were so moved by this beautiful version that you've cried during or shortly after watching this.

@thesoftsquid could be overthinking it but the song makes sense to me from that perspective when you listen to it like that.

I've always thought of this song as Rivers' testament to his career as a musician. Like with the lyric 'every time I pinned down what I think I wanted slips away' could be his ever changing mindset to what he wants his music to be seen as. The most obvious is the butterfly metaphor being seen as his constant metamorphosis as an individual. The final lyrics depicting how he said he would be back but never returns could be foreshadowing the end of his pinkerton days into stardom.

I'm a guy who's been in a relationship with a girl for over a year now, and I can honestly admit that this man has a very beautiful voice.
-
@intangibleme its just you, you can hear that his voice is very breathy which means its not auto-tuned b/c if it was, he'd have a full sound; hes actually that good but his voice is shit at that point b/c of so much touring and being the only singer in the band plus crap that goes on during tours, his voice is almost gone, listen to the aol session for buddy holly, he cant get the note out with his voice scratching up

I love this song so much. Great album.

No criticizing Rivers' singing, but did AOL fucking auto-tune him like they did his Island in the Sun performance with them?? He doesn't need it. Is it just me, or does anyone else hear it?

the fact a harp was used makes this 10x more awesome

@jonmarc1980 I agree as long as they are making music they want to make and still enjoy what they do, they should keep doing it. It's like listening to any other artist who is part of a different genre in my eyes. I know Pinkerton is most Weezer fan's favorite album, but to ask for that would be almost traumatizing for Rivers if that was really how he still felt about his life. I don't blame him looking for new genres, Pinkerton breaks my heart to think he still felt that way about anything..

@jonmarc1980 thats funny you say that. i saw weezer on guitar center and he was saying pinkerton was a big down fall for them, that his fans basically hated him after that album since he did open up in a lot those songs. but i liked it too(:

Pinkerton is my favorite Weezer album by far. That being said, its not coming back. Enjoy it, its great but dont close your self off to the new stuff. Rivers is exploring having fun and making some decent music in the process.
