After two years of fending off allegations of wrongdoing and complaints from all sides, Alan Eagleson is going on the offensive. He has written a book (Powerplay: The Memoirs of Hockey Czar) and is doing the interview circuit. In this one-on-one with CBC Television's Dennis Trudeau, Eagleson isn't afraid to address the criticisms levelled against him. He defends his record, his financial dealings, and why his own pension is higher than that of any hockey player.

Altough he is a bastard, we have to thank him for revolutionizing international hockey. The summit series never wouldve happened if it werent for him.

A skimming leech. Canada was blinded by hockey lustre and took so long to get this guy. It was only when the US state department got involved then finally (finally!) the RCMP, the NHL began to press hard to get charges laid. How guys like him ever got in the HOF in the first place amazes me. Now if only we could get rid of Harold Ballard from the HOF - but he's dead unfortunately.

Convicted felon in two countries, imprisoned, disbarred, kicked out of the Hockey Hall of Fame and lost his Order of Canada. What more can you say? He was in bed with the owners, head of the NHLPA and a player rep. Can you say "conflict of interest"?
