@Krakolio The box should not explode, if it does you should obviously be dead from that... You might just need a whole new console, it may be cheaper than replacing every bad part on it. New ones are $100 from Sony or around $50 on ebay.

Thank you so much for making this video, it is really helpful. My PS2 still won't play movies though, so that must be a whole other problem.

I have a few of questions. First, does a PS2 Slim console with too much dust inside cause it to work too hard, possibly leading to the power cable (the box part) exploding? Also, if a PS2 Slim console turns off immediately after trying to play a game, but otherwise works fine, is it a sign that it needs to be cleaned. One last question, if the console makes a loud humming sound and gets hot while playing games does this mean that there is too much dust inside?

@loisdies1 I meant with the gears being out of alignment. I would go On ebay or game gavel for a new one 30-40 bucks.

Mad props dude. I was just about to toss my old ps2 out & just keep playing the ps3 but found your vid & it worked perfect. Now i can start back playing NBA LIVE 03 & old games #LOL
