The first Theodorakis concert after the dictatorship in october 1974 was also filmed by german television. Here are the songs of that broadcast.

One of the greatest music of the world. The great composer Mikis Theodorakis, together with the great writer Pablo Neruda could make something outstanding "The Canto General". Who else could sing it better then Pedros Pandis and Maria Farantouri? This music always makes me shiver.

@spiritof1941 I completely agree, I saw them in Stockholm a couple of times in the 80*s . I have the complete LPs of canto General and I recently got a CD of a later recording, but this is unfortunately not complete, some songs are missing.
Petros Pandis has a marvelous voice, and to see Theodorakis in action is a great experience! I simply love them, and...being chilean, I am quite familiar with these poems. Happy new year!

No impoprta que el español no sea el mejor... La fuerza que transmite en aquel momento tan especial tras la dictadura es impresionante. Yo lo vi dos años después en Atenas y aun recuerdo aquel ambiente de fe en el futuro...... Que lástima que los tiempos ya no transmitan esa esperanza

Theodorakis es un gran compositor, sin embargo a este tema le falta algo.

Thats true. And as a point of pride, the orchestra playing in that recording is the dutch Metropole Orchestra from Hilversum, Holland who are my colleagues. I work 50 % in the Dutch Radiochoir that is in the same building :)
