Rachmaninoff performs his solo piano works in a spectacular recording made on a Bosendorfer 290SE piano, using the music rolls made in his time. This remarkable listening experience brings Rachmaninoff's phenomenal pianistic talent to life in today's world. By using unprecedented new techniques of transfer and reproduction, the mechanical aspects of music roll performances have been eliminated. More astonishingly, these advances reveal the subtleties and fine details of Rachmaninoff's playing with startling clarity, showing us why he was regarded as perhaps the greatest pianist of his time.

- Prelude in C Sharp Minor, op.3 no.2 (recorded: 17 March 1919)
- Lilacs, op.21 no.5 (recorded: 6 April 1922)
- The flight of the Bumblebee (recorded: 1 February 1929)

  • This is not Rachmaninoff playing. You need to change the title.

  • @King21973

The title is perfectly fine. Just pay attention to the description, that will explain. Hopefully...

If not convinced, then search for "A window in Time" on the web..

  • I always wanted to hear Rachmaninov playing Rachmaninov....thanks so much for posting it...I´m really surprised how clear it is...fantastic!

  • @King21973 oh really?

  • Killa from tha villa

  • I've heard this piece played many times, but this is the first time I've HEARD the piece........

  • Rachmininoff is truly, an Astounding composer; I've never heard him perform before this.

  • As extraordinary as Horowitz and Gilels were, it's hard to say they were better than Rach, perhaps on some pieces :-) It is Rach, Horowitz and Gilels, Moiseiwitsch, Richter, Weissenberg, Argerich and now Jung Lin, IMO. Rach said he preferred Horowitz's Rach 3 - they were best friends in New York for decades. He did say Benno M. was his favorite, and Rach did say Gilels was his true disciple :-)) Links between Rach and Lhevinne, Horowitz are there (NYC, Juilliard - Perahia, others)
