Levin decries filibuster of defense bill supporting our troops

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, delivered a speech in the Senate at 12:30 a.m. this morning, December 18, 2009, decrying the filibuster of the fiscal year 2010 Defense Appropriations Act.

So the bill that provides the funding to support our men and women in uniform who are serving on the front lines, often under arduous and dangerous circumstances to protect our nation, is being filibustered to keep the Senate from acting on another unrelated piece of legislation, Levin said. This is not only unbelievable, it is unconscionable.
