Dedicated to my first teacher of the African Arts.... who not just taught me about mask, drum and dance, but educated me about the significance of Universal African Cultural Values and it's relationship to African Performing Arts. Ideas so ancient to our people, such as respect for elders, ancestors and God. Ideas like valuing community more than self, focusing on peace and conflict resolution, and collective work and achievement. Finally ideas that balance our spiritual and physical existence, that we might present our culture with its most intrinsic purpose..... Healing!
