COMFORTABLE: Chapter 16--

NICK'S POV:

I held Miley's hand and we walked through the park. It was dark outside, but I could still see her beauty under the glow of the stars. She was wearing a tight red dress, which she pulled off looking incredibly classy. Her hair was down in its natural wave and she wore only the slightest trace of lip gloss. Her hand in mine felt so incredibly right and it was hard to imagine that I had gone so long without her by my side. I couldn't imagine going through that pain, that agony, ever again.

We got to her favorite restaurant, a coy little café outside of Nashville, and our waiter escorted us to a little table in the back. There were only a few other couples in sight, all of them deep into conversation. I smiled at Miley and she she winked at me, sending shivers down my spine. Damn it, just with once glance she sent me to another world. We ordered our food, and as we were eating she reached over and touched my face. "You have a little something right here.." she teased and kissed my lips. I laughed and she kissed me again, not caring if anybody was watching. "I love you, Miles." I said, and she nodded. "I love you too, Nick."

"Listen Miles, I was wondering... what do you think about me moving here, to Tennessee? Permanently?" I asked, a soft sincerity in my voice. "What!" She shouted with joy, "Are you serious right now? That would be amazing. I was just thinking the other day how me moving back to California would be kinda risky and how much I would miss Nashville. So you moving here would be so amazing!" She said, all in one breath. I laughed and reached out to grab her hand. "You were willing to go back to California?" I asked. "Of course. Well I mean, I didn't really want to go back to California, but I would do anything for you." She replied, squeezing my hand. I kissed her lips, and took a deep breath. "Miley, there is something I've been meaning to ask you." I said, and a little wrinkle appeared between her eyebrows. "What is it, Nick?" I got up from my seat and walked over to her. Slowly, I got down on one knee and reached into my pocket, pulling out a velvet box. "Oh my gosh.." She said, tears filling her eyes. "Miley Ray, I love you more than words can express. And I've been waiting for a moment like this for so long now. I want to be with you forever." I started. "Forever?" She interrupted, her hands shaking and a smile forming on her lips. "Forever." I continued, "Will you marry me?" She nodded her head and swung her arms around my neck. I took a sigh of relief and could feel my own tears filling my eyes. "Yes!" She whispered into my ear, and I placed the silver band on her finger. The ring was fairly simple. Just a silver band with two small heart shaped diamonds and a larger, circular diamond in between them. I knew the moment I saw it in the shop back home that it was going to be Miley's one day. And now finally, that day was upon us.
