http://paintaportrait.org Video demonstration of how to draw a portrait. Shows a charcoal
lay in followed by conte pencil (compressed charcoal) cross hatching to create the detail in the face. I used soft brushes Windsor and Newton Monarch,
work well, I use different kinds of erasers, a putty rubber which can be shaped accordingly, a pencil rubber for highlights or detailed places, a stomp and a brush for l more subtle erasing.
I used normal Cartridge paper, I used Daler Rowney 130grm, nothing special

  • You know what you're doing!

  • I love your Demos ! Your draftsmanship is perfect. This one reminds me of the work of Andrew Loomis.

  • Stunning drawing. Do you always use a live model or is this from a photo?

  • For this drawing I used ordinary cartridge paper the kind of stuff you would get on an A2 pad, nothing special.

    Thanks louis
