Mitsugi Saotome is the chief instructor of the Aikido Shobukan Dojo in Washington, D.C.
He began as a special apprentice with the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei (O Sensei) in 1955 and continued for 15 years until the founder's death in April of 1969.
In this video Saotome Sensei demonstrates the full range of Aikido's basic empty-handed technique and discusses Aikido's underlying principles.
