A video of videogame techdemo Cellfactor:combat training running without a PhysX Card. A demonstration of negligible gain of performance of AGEIA physX versus CPU power.
The system is a dual core AtlonX2 4200 with a 7900 GT and 2 GB of RAM.

  • I don't see the big flag. Didn't see blood either.

The flag and the fluid are more computing demanding Physics features. Trowing a few dozen boxes around a CPU can handle. Alto it attract the player attention more.

If you want to claim CPU can handle it to, enable full PhysX features.

    And it can't handle it.

  • yeah!, the blood of NOBODY is what you want to see?

The big flag very computing demanding?

No, the VERY HUNDREDs of particles and fragments of the HUNDREDs of elements of this map is the more demanding.

This game was released about two years, and I saw a incredible slowdown of CPU performance in the final release vs beta.

The final release of this map had very less elements that the beta map, and ran more slowly.

Man, this game (full of shit) is all about AGEIA propaganda. xD

  • My pc can handle this but i don't have a ppu. HOW DO YOU DO THIS. I have tried running the editor and playing it there but it still gave me the: YOu need a physx accelerator error

  • This is the demo version, not the final release of the game.

The final release is very much slower(around 0.5x speed) than the demo when you execute this with the same map and conditions (In fact, a simplified version of the map in the final release)without Ageia card. This is very suspect.

You have to make some modification to the demo´s shortcut.

Add to the path of the shortcut "EnablePhysX=false".

  • :S this is weird ive got a evga 7900 gto, 2 gigs of ddr2 800, a amd athlon 64 x2 6000 at 3.0 and it still doesnt run this fluently, how does it run when u use bots?

  • This is the demo release, not the final version.

The final release is more slower than the demo version, despite having more simplified versions of maps.

  • How do you Run the Extreme PhysX Maps without an Ageia Card? I can run the Normal maps at 1920x1080 (VSync on) and I'm getting 50-60 Frames Average so I wanna test the "Extreme" maps

  • I have played CF:CD in LAN everything enabled. PPU works. After newer PPU drivers, FPS hit got much less. CPU can't handle that. in those day's!

Running it with no NPC make no sense. It's only perpouse is to put PPU in a bad light by extreemly reducing Physics load. And to whine CPU can do it to.

Now my Ci7 can do it 2 years after that. But then agian PPU2 or gen 3 on 65 to 40nm and new PhysX game utilizing it. Would be the time for now.

Well nV GPU took there places. That works to.

  • do you think i can do that with the full version of the game???

  • laggy buts is cool.. cannots wait until teh gam3s gets moar particles and moar physicz. cool vid kthx

  • the force unleashed looks very fun =D

  • but then again crysis desont use agia

  • it looks similar to star wars the force unleashed , is good to know this game was part made in colombia :D

  • looks like its coded better then crysis, crysis would lag like hell with all that stuff flying around at once
