Joe Carraro proposes that if Congress is really representative of the people, then its members will give up its overpaid salaries and benefits and join into the same health care and retirement programs average Americans have to use. The Congress shall have term limits, members and their staffs should make no more than 3 times the median salary (so if they increase the median salary, they get a raise, or they don't), buy into health care programs like regular Americans instead of the luxurious, free (for them. We pay the bill) health care they currently receive, and any pension they get is through Social Security--just like average Americans.

You've posted some great ideas. I have so little respect for the legislative branch it long ago stopped being funny. A few of the long-termers were okay - Ted Kennedy made a successful career of it - but they don't make 'em like him any more. Today's lot strike me as dilletantes. @PhilipJSherman Banks and Investment companies. They are called IRAs, Roth or Conventional, and Mutual Funds. But this guy is ridiculous. The nickname for the Senate is the Millionaires Club. The House of Reps isn't much better. They don't need congressional retirement. The part they want is the supplemental Health Care policies because once you reach retirement age it is mandatory that you receive the sucky Medicare, no one has a choice. Gov Health Care sucks!

This is standard republican BS! LONGER TERMS? really? One term for all. Never allowed to run again. This is supposed to be a servants post. Servants don't WANT to make a career out of being a servant. We need to make this job a hardship for those that are appointed by election. All these politicians have to do is obey the ORIGINAL 'Contract with America', the CONSTITUTION. But since they refuse to relinquish power for betraying the American people, I guess we'll have to water the Liberty Tree, it's about the only option left. I'm not impressed with anyone who says they 'have a plan'. I'm not buying.
