Yes, horses were brought to America by the Spaniards. Over time the horse gained a special place in Native American culture. Many Native American myths and stories about the arrival of horses claimed that "the grass remembered" them so i think you can understand why exterminating wild horses is an insult to them. The horse is as an important symbol to Native Americans just as the Bald Eagle is an important symbol to the USA.

Exterminating wild horses is an insult to Native Americans and it's sad that it's allowed to go on so that greedy ranchers can bring in more livestock.
