  • What a great view on life and everything...

  • 4:32-5:07 One of the wisest of assertions from a very wise man. The longer I'm involved in jazz-and I've been playing it for 15 years and listening to it for 18-I'm often puzzled by how closed musicians WITHIN the community are to one another. To listen to Newk to the exclusion of someone like Warne Marsh, or to ignore the genius of a Jim Hall while praising the genius of a Tal Farlow: Its All Good. Obviously, Newk isn't just talking about jazz. But its an important point. Learn from it all.

  • The big guy, more than any.

  • WISE words from Sonny

  • Love the man. Can't wait to see him in November. Four years I've been waiting

  • Love and understanding. Keep on, Sonny!

  • As much as I recognize the incredibly mastery of John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins' playing resonates in a way I find more nourishing and accessible. Obviously, Sonny can pour out the notes in as rapid and continuous a stream as just about anybody, but his musical language always remains comprehensible and communicative.

This is just subjective on my part, of course. I'm not one to speak about who's 'better" than anyone else when discussing these masters and their brilliance.

  • Listening to this really makes me feel grateful for having found my own love for Jazz music. Thank you for making these videos and allowing us to hear the great master speak!

  • one of jazz's last surviving canonical giants. he weathered the storm. god bless you, sonny.

  • greatest challenege: karma. what a fantastic human
