@theclicker1 I tested placing blocks, then using the editor to modify the block AutoCad 2010, and after making a change to the block it alters every reference in the drawing. Perhaps that was a big change made from 2008 to 2010. Also, I did test to see if changing an individual reference using explode would affect the others, and it does not.
Thanks for this tutorial! I have been forever drawing things, using cut -> paste as block, but that did not allow me to name it... resulting in block names of Ax34123... etc. This will greatly help me in modulizing my drawings.
@theclicker1 I use 2010 so I do not know the specifics of '08, however you should check the name of the ones that did not update. Perhaps 2008 created a temporary block to maintain those blocks prior to the change. If it did create a temp. version, just highlight all references to the block that need to be updated and tell it to switch their reference with your new version. I will test this in 2010 to see if there can be more insight.
I'm working in acad 2008... I had a block definition that i've inserted into my drawing multiple times.I added an editable attribute to the block definition, but when I did so, the blocks that were inserted previously did not update with the editable attribute attached.... It appears that the editable attribute will only be assigned to blocks which are inserted after the attribute is assigned... is this true?
