Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman spoke in support of legislation to tighten sanctions against Burma and block importing Burmese gems into the United States. For the last 17 years, a military junta has brutally ruled Burma with repression and violence, accumulating one of the worst human rights records in the world. Chairman Berman said, "The legislation before the House today hits the regime where it hurts — in the wallet." The resolution passed by voice vote on July 15.

With the economy and energy prices spiraling out of control these idiots are fussing around with Burma? Where's the priority? No wonder these idiots aren't respected.
