I first saw John Prine in 1973 at his first gig at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, followed by a taping at KCET ... awesome shows! I developed my pickin' style by listening to his songs and he raised the bar for me as a songwriter as well ... I met him a couple of times... great guy!
@horsedooty Marty also found a little piece of paper in the back of Clarance's guitar, which was supposedly LSD. It is an interesting story if you look it up
Marty Stuart played mandolin for The Lester Flat Band as a teenager (like 14 year old) then he was in Johnny Cash's band and married to one of John's daughters. He is a legitimate country musician. The big tele he plays is the guitar that the Great Clarance White built and used when White was with The Birds (around the time of Sweetheart of the Rodeo album). It has a rig in it that allows the B string to bend and change notes after it has been picked. It creates a sound like a steel guitar.

I forget to say that John Prine, Townes Van Zandt and Mickey Newbury are my main influences as a songwriter... John Fowler
