Pak mum on Headley, Rana despite FBI's evidence(17 Nov 2009)

It's been a month since US arrested Lashkar terror suspects David Headley and Tahawwur Rana, but Islamabad has remained mum so far on the clear terror links pointing towards Pakistan in the investigation. Minister of State for Information Samsam Bukhari admitted Islamabad was awaiting a formal request from Washington to act on uncovering the Lashkar duo's terror trail in Pakistan.

He said, "No information on Headley & Rana. Officially the U.S has not given us information on the trial. So we can't comment or act on the case till we get information."

When questioned on its silence, the Pakistan government said it has not received any information from the FBI or American authorities regarding the investigation and links to its soil.

This comes as a shocker even as Pakistan earlier claimed it made a couple of arrests right after Headley and Rana were detained.

It was David Headley, who made atleast 2 trips to Pakistan in last 2 years. Tahawwur Rana funded and guided him on those trips. Headley's passport proves he visited Karachi in October 2007 and in April 2008. His 2008 visit was just after he conducted a reccee in Mumbai. Intelligence agencies believe he returned to Pakistan to report to his handler- HuJi chief and Qaeda man Ilyas Kashmiri.
