The greatest thing I have ever heard was when they ask the family about Willie's singing and guitar playing out of time. The answer was we stay in time and know that when it matters he will get there too. that's great.

@dirkadirkabro He did sing just like that before he was "famous". he was a known song writer hanging out in Austin not a known performer. At that time folk music was big and just kind of being who you are without regaurd to the rules so people loved that he sang "wrong". It is his personna and has been for 45 years or so. He is doing it how he feels at that moment in time. It will sound different next time I am sure.

willie needs to remember when he somewhat matched his lyrical rythms to the music. he sings with no regard to the music thats playing like he's just randomly saying crap. it really sucks after a while... and i like his album stuff. but to me live he just acts like he's screwing off like "screw you, i've played this a million times so i'm just gonna butcher it" and everyone says, oh he's so great. i dont know, he wrote good songs but he'd get booed singing like that if he wasnt famous

The other part is sung by Jody Payne, a forever member of Willie's band.
