Sierra Club Thanks Obama For Historic Mercury Rule

On December 21st of last year, President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency announced an historic win for public and environmental health when they issued the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards for Power Plants. These long-delayed safeguards will clean up more than 90% of toxic mercury from power plants and protect our communities and families from a slew of other harmful pollutants, including arsenic, cyanide and acid gases. The Sierra Club applauds President Obama and EPA Administrator Jackson for standing up to Big Coal and corporate polluters and strongly urges the Administration to continue fighting for clean air and water.
