sustainable population of earth without fossil fuels & causing ecological collapse in the range 0.5-2billion
mars has no fossil fuels - and 1/3rd the area of earth - no van-alan belt to keep its atmosphere from being erorded by cosmic rays (thats why it lost it, its smaller area lost its internal heat).
Terraforming mars would be unlikely to put a meaningful dent in our terrestrial resource overshoot. it would be an energy sink, not an energy source
