This is part 45 of my series on John's home demos. To understand the abbreviations I use in the description, please refer to the original video in the series. The next few videos will all be from John's trip to Bermuda where he claims he wrote Double Fantasy in three weeks. But it is apparent that most of the songs were finished before Double Fantasy and that he merely refined them to the songs we know and love today in Bermuda. These were all recorded at Villa Undercliffe which is located just outside of Bermuda's capital, Hamilton. John chose Villa Undercliffe because it had a piano and it was secluded. The last thing he wanted was for people to know he was on the small island of Bermuda. He recorded most of these demos late at night and early in the morning before the sun came up:
Dear Yoko, unknown overdubbed take (June 22nd, 1980, Villa Undercliffe, Bermuda) -- This was recorded in the same sitting as the previous video's renditions of Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy).
I Don't Wanna Face It, unknown overdubbed take (Between June 22nd and June 27th, 1980, Villa Undercliffe, Bermuda) -- The original take that was overdubbed for this take has never been found.
Girls and Boys, take 6 with overdubs (June 27th, 1980, Villa Undercliffe, Bermuda) -- This is the sixth take of Girls and Boys which can be found on a previous video, but with overdubbing
The first few seconds of the vocal remind me of Buddy Holly....especially as he sang on Rave On.

I agree. I don't know for certain if this was directly inspired by Buddy Holly, but I can at least assume that it was since it was the music of his youth.
