Admirers of Jerzy Skolimowski's classic Deep End (1970) will be interested in his follow-up King, Queen, Knave (1972), especially as it stars John Moulder-Brown in a similar ham-fisted young jack-the-lad type role. Unfortunately it turns out to be a highly unsatisfactory mess, but still has its points of interest, such as Moulder-Brown's unsubtle but hilarious clowning during the opening.
The film is an adaptation of a Vladimir Nabokov novel. German department store magnate Charles Dreyer (David Niven) experiments with the idea of making his nephew Frank (John Moulder-Brown) his heir. But the sexual predations of his wife Martha (Gina Lollobrigida) on the naive boy put this plan in jeopardy...
Thank you very much for this rare movie! :)
