Ant Banks "Livin The Life"

Ant Banks is a rapper and producer for various West Coast hip hop artists, particularly in the Bay Area. His collaborations with Too $hort led him to begin producing records of his own.

He has produced songs for MC Ren, Spice 1, Goldy and others. In 1993, he engaged in a beef with Oakland rapper Pooh-Man. Produced songs for The Dangerous Crew.

In 1999 Banks launched his project group T.W.D.Y. (The Whole Damn Yay). Rappin' 4-Tay and Captain Save'm were the original members. Their debut album Derty Werk. The album contains the single Player's Holiday, featuring Mac Mall, Rappin' 4-Tay. The single received a lot of radio play.

This is when rap was the truly voice of the hood. He was telling kids to go to college and get a job and NOT to sell dope. It's sad that the message in today's rap music is the exact opposite. Today, rap is an evil negative influence. Most of today's rap like Jeezy, Gucci Mane and even Jay-Z is like a motivational seminar to become a hustler. But countless young minorities end up dead or in prison trying to live out Reasonable Doubt. Rappers need to take responsibility and kids need to wise up.

Good to see folks is feeling this message. This lifestyle wasn't voyeurism for us. Frisco Lakeview Lunatic Village on mines!!! Sco to the O. It's all the Bay though. We had double digit homicide counts on single corners in Lakeview when this was slapping outta trunks. This music will forever be inspiration to do better.
