13/06/2010: WOW! Over 10.000 view, i never expected that much. Thanks for all the feedback and thanks for watching it. I'm going to try to make another arrangement soon, i just need some musicians ;)

____________________________________________
In class "Arrangement & Composition" we got the task to either write a song for a string quartet ( that's violin x2, viola x1 & cello x1) OR arrange an already excisting song into notes for the string quartet.

I chose the song "Through the Fire and Flames" by the awsome speed-metal band "Dragonforce".

I didn't turn out as i expected it too, but i'm still very satisfied (considering this isn't my strongest subject).

The end of the video is a little off because i removed the audio from the video and replaced it with the actual recorded audio from the microphones.

So Please: ENJOY! :D

På "Arrangering & Komposition" så fick vi i uppgift att antingen skriva en låt till en stråk-kvartett (fiol x2 viola x1 & cello x1) ELLER göra ett arr (arrangemang) på en redan existerande låt.

Jag valde låten "Through the Fire and Flames" med speed-metalbandet Dragonforce.

ENJOY! :D

  • whats up with the persone in the back you never really see?

  • @EmilyElizabeth1987 Yeah i put the camera kinda off haha, and she was the most professional of the 4 :P

  • Great playing, but I dindt like so much the arrangement.. there are some parts there are big gaps(i dunno if the singer sings in that part because I dont know the original music, if he sings, the violin could do that melody..Its a thing that I would write in the sheet)

  • @gabrieloni I agree with you sir/madam. I'm a little disappointed that they only got to practise the song (based on my arrangement) a few times so they didn't really get the hang of it all in that short time. Also I left out the song because the plan was from the beginning to add a singer, record timpani (!) and some other percussion to replace drums, but as the recording was a slight failure in my eyes I just skipped it completely.

  • @EmilyElizabeth1987 She's a woman, so it'd be inappropriate to show her out of her natural habitat of the kitchen.

  • awesome cover :]

  • this is KICK ASS!!

  • Where can I find the sheet music?

  • the only guy any good is the cellist

  • My ears literally started to bleed ... from teh epicness

  • Nice arrangement, I LOVE IT!!! Although, at parts the actual tune "Through the fire and flames" gets lost... it jumps back in at times, this is almost a piece of it's own with themes from TTFAF... I still love it!!

  • @Museofchaz Was she making a sandwich?

  • @Museofchaz i see how you feel it was somewhat of a failure as the recording is way to centred and what not. if this would have been worked on a bit more, with those added timpani and vocals it would have been great. good work overall anywho.

  • If you started listening at 0:55 and nobody told you it was through the fire and the flames I doubt you would be able to guess it...where was the melody?
