I want to live in a yurt for a while. Flipping electricty, orange street lights, being surrounded in an ugly house surrounded by ugly neighbours. Id rather live in a yurt in a field

yurts seem cool. but when i go camping we cant even have food in the tents because of bears. i wonder if this rule applies for yurts too when living in a heavily populated black bear area, the pacific north west?

What about in Alaska and Griz Bears? Yep. Got to keep things clean in bear Country. We had a Kodiak rip out a side wall ( while we were gone ) no food... just looking for the right bed I guess. We solved the issue by raising the Yurt on a platform 12' above ground level with a stair case entrance from under the platform. Also cleared out a bit more brush. Bears do not like exposure. I'm still a great fan of yurts. I lived in the PNW for many years... go for it.....
