The music is called To The Unknown Man by Vangelis, It was used for 'The Frame Of The Day' usually broadcasted on BBC2 @ approx 6pm during the World Championships only

Wow quite a find! Who knew there was some awful synth alternative theme.Can't imagine why they dumped it.

There is something very soothing, relaxing and simple about these titles and music, shame they weren't used more often by the BBC. I remember watching the 1986 snooker as a 9 year old, but this music must have only been on way past my bed time.

@TheRockinpneumonia I can see this used as walk on music for some player. But only if he does a long, wistful walk from a few streets away to the arena...

i think that that was the best theme music for snooker. it also, for me, represents THE golden age of snooker. i cant find the uninterupted one without david vine talking over the end.
