@RGclips no, it's a motor, but motors and dynamos are basically the same thing, so this lego motor can be used as dynamo with very good results because its internal gearing.

danky78, yeah I looked at some of there motors since viewing, I never thought they would put electric motors in their products, its pretty cool, they have added a lot of cool stuff since I was little and played with legislation.

@CognitiveNetwork Most of the Red LEDs I've worked with run about 2.8V and 20-25mA. Most of the 3mm and 5mm ones I've seen don't run over 25mA.

Wow, that generates a surprising amount of power! Whats the maximum output of the motor?
That's cool, didn't know Lego had motors know, but you can do that will any electric motor, its the same principal as a generator. Cool though.

@lpboy2002 Yes I know, but lego motors have good efficiency and they have a internal gearing system that makes it to act better as dynamo than a normal electric motor.
Now lego have other motors (in the NXT series) that are servomotors, so they can't be used as dynamo.
