A simple 433 MHz "Poor Man's scanner " based around a prebuilt ~US$10 UHF 433.92 MHz ISM band ASK data receiver module. Sensitivity is good, with main use intended as an "is my transmitter working" aid when setting up a 433 MHz data link. However broad selectivity suits band monitoring & identification of noise sources etc, as well as checking go/no-go operation of numerous other 433 MHz devices ( wireless doorbells, weather stations, car alarms, energy meters etc).
Wireless data and antenna performance insights may also be possible. An easy undocumented(!) enhancement allows both squelch & RSSI (signal strength) facilities !
The receiver even allows reception & decoding ( via "Spectran" etc) of SMT Hellschreiber ( which is heard in the video). This clip is mentioned in the July 2010 "Silicon Chip" PICAXE SMT Hellschreiber article in fact. Refer article resources http://www.picaxe.orcon.net.nz/hellsmt.htm
