Whale watching tour with O'Briens tours, in one of their Zodiac boats. Two humpback whales circled our boat for about 20 minutes, coming close enough to touch at one point. Boat engine turned off, the whales were watching us.

  • The guy going 'here here here' was the boat captain, or "Skipper" as he was known. I think it even said that on his hat :)

As for possible 'whale abuse' as a few have posted - well I realise that rules vary and that in BC, for example, this would not be allowed. But on this occasion the whales very definitely came to the boat, not the reverse. The were around for 20+ minutes overall. We have done this trip many times and never been anything like this close.

  • someone shut the whale up.

i wanna listen to the humpback.

  • incredible

too bad that one guy shouting "HERE HERE HERE" the whole time ruins it a bit :/

  • Geeze, utterly amazing!

  • @sharecroppermike Did you just reply to yourself? Do you do that often?

  • @theicedman it is illegal to touch whales, feed them or even to approach them this close deliberately. what you are seeing in this video is the equivalent to a video of someone interacting with a wild bear. why not is simple: 9/10 of these encounters might go well, then a boat is capsized. there are also cases of whales getting too friendly with boats and the result was an injured or dead whale.

  • @radagenais I wish people could just shut the fuck up and watch the YouTube video instead of commenting like idiots.
