This is Igor Zhukov's Melodiya recording of that sonata. This work was one of Scriabin's greatest compositional achievements. The piece is basically a summoning of mystical forces that will follow Scriabin in his later works.

The manuscript was kept in Montreal by Alfred La Liberté & was returned to the Scriabin Museum in 1972. This was recorded in 1972 for Melodiya. The piano used on the recording is a Bechstein.

  • A very satisfying performance, doing justice to many important aspects of this inexhaustible work, and showing how so many different approaches are possible. Zhukov's physical engagement and animal force offset the inevitable "studio-bound " feel. The Bechstein sound is in keeping with Scriabin's preferences. Even if I remain obsessed by Richter's demented, demonaic devilry, this is is a convincing alternative. Thank you.

    It agrees with you.

For Scriabin's work, I think that Bechstein's tone harmonizes most.

If I want the interpretation of it and this musical piece by Igol Zuhkov to remain forever as the universal interpretation, I will wish.
