@papersamurai but honestly this isnt even the best move. its more like a parlor trick ....except real none the less. the fun stuff comes when you get hit in 3 places at once and feel like a train just hit you. like I said in another comment...dancing around doing *mma* looks cool and all with blood flying everywhere...but in a real fight I would rather know how to end it in the first move than to trade blows with someone that could probably take more of a beating than me.
@papersamurai I just checked that out. who is this joker? and re-aligning chi? are you kidding me? I sincerely hope you didnt take that as what taika does. taika isnt just slapping the guy on his neck. thats also part of what he talks about when he is slapping his neck hard. I encourage you to attend one of his next *seminars* and ask him or find one of the schools where you can learn your way up over a decade and actually get a chance to learn this move.
Furthermore, this isn't your average "dance around the room taking shots at eachother followed by being gay with one another on the floor wrestling around" MMA style karate. We don't do backflips or high kicks like grandstanding idiots. every move has a reason and are always combined with at least one other coinciding move to render a person harmless or unresponsive as you can see here. you learn by watching and feeling. and practicing...and watching again...and feeling and practicing.... etc.
@YIQUANONE lol. in my 15 years of taking ryukyu kempo, I have seen many people like you come and go. they stay for a few days to a month and get tired cuz they get *hurt* and don't pay attention at all. they expect to learn the moves Taika does in a short period...or learn *kill moves* at the very beginning. this isnt your average americanized tai kwan do "get a black belt for participating for a year" karate. we don't break pre broken boards with our fists or even boards for that matter.
all mma guys are such pussys that cant even get the basics down right, ever hear of a side kick? front kick? round house kick? you kick a persons leg even though its just a sport riscing there career, when you could knock them out with a head shot. They have no power at all (Look up Bill superfoot Wallace and take some notes)
@papersamurai it makes pefect sense you hitting the artery causing you to temporarily stop blood flow to the brain. i would know i've had it done to me by a student of taika. its the same concept as the sleeper hold.
@YIQUANONE I disagree you learn via muscle memory to be hit in the place where you have to strike gives you a better feel of location on the body, also it gives you a more cultured experience knowing exactly what kind of pain your inflicting on some one, example i find is just one of the better ways to teach. lastly unless you do it upon an actual person you wont ever get a real feel for it that's true from a master to a beginner then you just need to maintain and polish with practice.
