some great inforamtion here thanks

You could probably swim in it as long as you don't allow yourself to sink too far.
-
Yes that's thermal convection, a stream of warm water comes up from the core.
-
Baby nuke... I'd love to have one to power my watt-thirsty PC at home.

one question:
how do you keep the water that circulates from the reactor to the steam generator, from boiling? i read it was kept under pressure. Clearly thats not the case here... i think.
-
It's Beautiful to look at. If I could I would stare at a reactor, touch it and just admire it. But sadly I would come up looking like my mom's cooking,

@rey4every sure if you don't mind the deadly radiation :D
-
@rey4every ofc pool type reactor looks like swimming pool but i wouldn't jump there to swim :D
-
@TheHalflife123 well obviously but it looks so inviting, kinda like the idea of swimming trough your house if it were flooded idk mabye thats just me
Hi,
I'm the guy talking in the video. The reactor pool is filled with regular water NOT heavy water. It's just very clean water. There are no steam generators because this little reactor does not produce electricity as do nuclear power reactors. This is a research reactor and is 3000 times smaller than a typical nuclear power reactor. The other comment is that it is safe to observe the reactor through 8 m (30 ft) of water but swimming down to it while it is operating is a very bad idea.
