Richard Green, MD, plastic surgeon in Vancouver, WA, discusses the latest in laser treatments: the Pearl Fractional (fractional ablative) and Pearl (epidermal skin renewal). Together, they offer a unique solution for treating wrinkles, uneven skin texture, pore size, brown spots and sun damage.

pearl fractional does work on acne scars, so long as they are not ice pick scars.
the number of treatments depend on the depth of the scar

Thanks for the info... combining the two sounds a little scary but I'm sure it produces great results. Thanks again for explaining the difference.

Thermage (similar to Titan) is used for tightening sagging or lax skin. It works by creating damage deep in the dermis to contract collagen, but does not remove tissue to repair visible damage from sun and aging. Thermage (or Titan) combined with Pearl and / or Pearl Fractional would be a good combination treatment as each addresses different components of aging and sun damage.

Pearl and Pearl Fractional are significantly different from Thermage. Pearl and Pearl Fractional remove tissue in the top two layers of the skin (epidermis and dermis). This literally removes sun and age damaged skin immediately during treatment. This results in the elimination of pigment, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin texture, etc.

What is the difference between this and Thermage? No anesthesia for the Thermage treatments and basically the same results. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't understand the advantage of this over Thermage.
