Part six of the public roundtable discussion Alcohol and Cannabis: Is Prohibition Rational?, Held at Otago University as part of the first annual Cannabis Awareness Week. Jim Anderton (Progressive MP, Wigram; Associate Minister of Health), it was a public discussion on: the relative evidence of harms from alcohol and cannabis use, whether or not current policies are working to reduce harm, and the place of harm minimisation in government policy toward alcohol and other drugs, moderated by award winning investigative journalist John Sellwood (TV One CloseUp) and held at the Otago University St. David Lecture Theatre on Thursday 1st May, 2008 as part of the first annual Otago University Cannabis Awareness Week.

  • dangerous drugs act , a false premise based more on racial PREJUDICE & corrupt big business dealings... an out dated law that has proved to be a failure on a colossal scale. PROHIBITION never worked.. you cannot legislate human behaviour , curiosity & freedom of choice...

this is an ideological & moral argument.

  • Not Richard Dawkins? awwwwwww

  • Instead of trying to legalize cannabis why not use that position to stress equal rights concerning us and addressing the persecutions and improper behaviour towards us because of our belief.

  • prohibition feeds goverment coffers & makes slaves of the sheep,

  • well deserved...

  • A critical analysis of Czar Anderton's foxing the legislative process (Anderton is an expert log roller) to get what he wants. Professor Dawkins takes Anderton apart over the abandonment of "Class D", a Misuse of Drugs Act amendment that made provision for regulated drugs, that is, controlled availability. The perfect place for tobacco, alcohol AND cannabis. /BJA
