Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge appeared on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto" on Sept. 25, 2009 to discuss a new Tax Foundation report showing that by 2012, if President Obama's proposals on taxes, health care and climate change become law, families earning up to $109,000 will, as a group, be receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal tax.

  • So your argument is that Bush violating the constitution somehow gives Obama a pass to do the same? Absolutely not! Maybe people are pissed because they expected some change and they now realize they've been had.

Bush and Obama are responsible for violating our rights, bankrupting the country, destroying our economy and promoting endless wars.

America is waking up to this corrupt one party oligarchy!

  • The truth is the Media is controlling us. They tell us what to be pissed about while they themselves are pissed as they report news that is actually PR for the govt. Almost every President went through similar rituals to test their ability to be controlled. The 1% controls the media and the 1% chooses the leaders/figure heads of the world. So we continue bashing these patzies/figure heads and the 1% continues unshaken and in power of information, leaders, media, resources, and product placement.

  • Under Taft-Hartley, strikes can be broken on "national security grounds" - the suggestion that unions serve as economic saboteurs when they fight for workers' rights. It's about time that employers are held to the same standard - when in the name of profit they deliberately commit acts that threaten to severely damage the country they should be subject to penalties... those Enron traders who laughed about sabotaging California's power grid qualify surely as terrorists...

  • So few to do so much for so many. Those few decided to engineer the economic system so that they take it all and so that those below have little in comparison. 'Tyranny of the majority' - more anti-democratic sentiment. Politicians funnel so much of that money to upper-income people like Blackwater and Halliburton. The fictitious Atlas Shrugged scenario can easily be met with nationalisations and other measures - attempts to undermine the nation should be recognised as such.

  • The reason why the folks at the top pay increasingly more as a percentage is related to the shrinking middle class (those lower down are unable to pay so much) and the accelerating, galloping rise in the wealth accumulation by the ultra-rich... the problem is systemic failures causing everything to fly to the top and collect there... the solution is to reconsider the entire system and to build something approaching socialism. This is the only conclusion one can draw from these Fox people.

  • Sounds like a win-win for most Americans... however, what does this mean to get federal government money? How is this number obtained? Fed spending per person? So as the feds send millions to Blackwater to fulfil Erik Prince's bloodlust that is chalked up as goodies for most Americans?

  • Let me see if I got this straight. I make less that $109k so I will pay the same amount of taxes, the rich will pay more taxes, all so that the government can SPEND more and claim it is for me?

  • No doubt there are racists out there but if they are ignorant enough to be racist then they are likely too ignorant to be out protesting.

It sickens me to hear the media and others saying that we are all racists, this is absolutely not true. I have been to plenty of protests and I have not come across any racist remarks or behavior.

The people I see going to these protests are well informed and concerned citizens. We know what happens when govt gets too big and powerful...

  • 70 trillion?!? I question your numbers. Why not claim Bush redistributed 900 gazillion? It would make as much sense.

Do us all a favor, and never vote again.

  • no thats not at all my argument... obama closed guantanamo but has an identical facility in afghanistan, and wants to keep most of the patriot act. Im not happy with him for that either.

My argument is that every thing he's done wrong to the american people Bush did 10 fold and no one said anything.

Most of the people only protest it so adamantly b/c he's black. if they really cared about those issues they wouldve been out there. They wouldnt sound so stupid if they just admitted racism
