The Stingray Light Tank is a light tank produced by Textron Marine and Land Systems Division (formerly Cadillac Gage). It was originally developed for the U.S. Army's Armoured Gun System competition. Thailand is the only user.
@dpsherry Do you really know how to read English? Where did I say 1st Armoured Squadrons Cents fought T-55s? In fact, where in the world can you find reference to Australia's Centurions fighting T-55s in Vietnam?
And I did not say RPGs could penetrate Centurions. I said they could penetrate Stingrays with no ERA. Which is what Thailand has. Not Centurions. Stingrays, M48 Pattons and M60 Pattons.
@Prod1Kh Do you really know wht u are talking about? Centurion was extremely successfully in the jungles of Vietnam by the Aussies. They rewrote the book on armoured warfare in jungles and guess what? RPG's couldn't penetrate cents. In fact NO CENTS WERE LOST TO ENEMY ACTION IN VIETNAM. You are prescriptive in your tactical / strategic analysis - typical of those who lose wars. Innovative use of your assets is what wins wars - cool is not what wins, infantry by themselves win no wars.
Interesting as a rapid deployment or airborne vehicle. There is also Stingray II with better armor.
Way better then a Stryker MGS which has poor cross country and can't even fire while on the move. Every true combat vehicle can fire on the move. If it can't then its not a true combat vehicle but a glorified police vehicle.
But I think the M8 AGS was even better then Stingray with modular armor and can have 120mm (Thunderbolt version).
@mtw56or ...only with the failed gun/launcher replaced by a time tested 105mm

I'd take a Centurion over the Patton any day.
Tell the NVA they didn't beat the Yanks.
