Dr. Hans Keirstead injected paralyzed rats with embryonic stem cells and the rats walked again. Sandra Hughes reports that the same method will soon be used in human trials starting this summer.
And again more bs so you can have an excuse to be against it. They are doing what is called RESEARCH. That is when they test different ideas and methodologies to see if it is possible. You can't expect them to just magically make a cripple chimp stand up just by passing a sheet over it. It takes time to figure out how and even then they have to test and makes sure that there are no side effects and right now they are still trying to figure out if and how it can be done.
When someone goes in for artificial insemination they take fertilize extras and store them in case the first attempt is a failure. If it is not a failure then those extras just sit there. Now the rest of that statement is bs. THey are still doing the research so there is no way for you to determine how much anything will cost and the laws to stop it were placed for political gain just as much as the laws to allow it. If there is a potential to cure paralysis why shouldn't they try.
Helloooo, how do you make an embryo? sperm+ eggs, in vitro. 24 million diabetics, one disease, a couple of hundred thousand "spares", where are you going to get the rest.
Want to limit health care costs? What do you suppose it would cost to pull apart an ALIVE embryo, grow it in a few hundred dishes for 9 months or so, say 10,000 man hours to isolate LIVING pancreatic islet cells, package them for sale and injection?
Cost-prohibitive cannibalism, pushed for political gain.
So should spare organs be thrown away instead of transplanted in a dieing man when someone passes. And no one ever anything about harvesting embryos from women other than you probably because it does not happen except in the demented little minds of peole desperate for a reason to prevent what could possibly be life saving research.
Cannibalization the act of devouring another of the same species. This is not cannibalism. WOuld you call the use of dead bodies cannibalism. Oh and you have yet to actually say anything related to my original comment. Is it because my original comment was to true for you to do anything but call people that do not agree with you evil. I believe that is a lot closer to what nazism actually was than anything I have said.
A living human individual's "spareness" does not determine its humanness. A "spare" human embryo is no different in any way, shape, or form from the non-spare. It is simply a developing human in early development. It should not be a commodity.
All medical discoveries to date have not involved the cannibalization of the youngest of our species.
Have you thought of the next step?
e.g. diabetes, suppose after years of research, many "spare" embryos are used up, and a treatment for diabetics using cells derived from embryos is conjured.
24 million diabetics in the US. Only a tiny fraction in embryos available. That's just one disease.
Do you realize that the bible says life begins with the first breath or is that one of the parts that you ignore unless it suits your needs. All life is sacred but should an embryo that is going to sit in a fridge until it is no longer possible to develop go to waste or should it be used to possibly help someone live a longer better life. Or do those people even matter since they are not embryos.

How about proving a paralyzed chimp can walk using chimp embryonic cells 1st. If it works, make your own embryo.
I've seen more promising reports for treating paralysis using adult stem cells.
IF it works, how do you ration the embryos needed? Will you need embryo factories? I see many women undergoing unnecessary procedures.

......and if you need MILLIONS of embryos, are you willing to harm millions of fertile women to harvest their eggs?
