A few of you may have heard I'm a bit obsessed with the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area ... ahem ... or as us Gorge Rats lovingly call it "The Big Ditch".

I realized there are a lot of old timers and folks that through their love of the Gorge have contributed to the history, the fun, the care, even the protection ... the legacy if you would ... of the Gorge. Some of them are gone unfortunately ... but there are a lot of them still around. A good portion of them I know and some I count as good friends ... some as brothers.

So I thought I'd start a series of casual video interviews with some of these folks ... so you can know them too. Most Gorge Rats will know the names and the legacies ... but some don't so to that end I'm going to start the series with a good friend William Faulkner. The world's greatest postman ... retired. You might know him on Ken's LG site as Wigg.

William is one of the fellers you need to get a chance to know ... and to hike with if you can. As Waterbar Jim says of another Gorge Rat near and dear to us ... that William ... "he knows things!"

To traipse a trail with William is to see what a young boy sees! Anything and everything along that trail, through those bushes ... sparks the inner boy in William. Makes ya feel younger just to share in his excitement. William is one of those folks I feel proud to call a friend.

So hopefully I've captured a little of that in this video interview and hike we took on Halloween Day in 2011 on a crisp sunny Monday. Hope you enjoy meeting William if you haven't yet and get a chuckle of watching an old friend if you have!
